Bangkok University

The University of Bangkok ( Thai: มหาวิทยาลัย กรุงเทพ, English:. Bangkok University, in short: BU) is a tertiary educational institution in Bangkok and one of the oldest private universities in Thailand.

History

Forerunner of the University of Bangkok was the Thai Technical School ( โรงเรียน ไทย เทคนิค ), which was founded in 1962 on the initiative of Surat Osathanugrah, owner of the energy drink producer Osotspa and subsequent transport and trade minister. Later she was in Bangkok College ( วิทยาลัย กรุงเทพ ) renamed so as not to give the impression that it was a vocational school. They entered into a cooperation with Fairleigh Dickinson University in the U.S. state of New Jersey. In 1984 the College was one of the first four private universities in Thailand who received university status. The founder of the family is still connected with the university. Surat's son and principal heir Petch Osathanugrah is Chairman of the University Council.

Campus

The Bangkok University has two campuses:

City Campus

The campus in the city is Kluay Nam Tai Campus ( วิทยาเขต กล้วยน้ำไท ) called and is located on Sukhumvit Road ( Sukhumvit Road ) in Khlong Toei District, Bangkok. The campus has an area of about 15,000 square meters and houses the facilities for regular students in their third year of study.

Rangsit

The campus Rangsit ( วิทยาเขต รังสิต ) is on the Thanon Phahonyothin ( Phahonyothin Road ) in Khlong Luang district of Pathum Thani province, about 14 kilometers north of Bangkok's former international airport, Don Mueang. The campus has an area of ​​over 260,000 square meters.
