Barbara Frittoli

Barbara Frittoli ( born April 19, 1967 in Milan ) is an Italian opera, recital and concert singer in the vocal ranges soprano and mezzo- soprano.

Biography and artistic work

Frittoli studied singing with Giovanna Canetti at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory their hometown. Her operatic debut was in 1989 in Il gioco del barone at the Theatre of Florence. Since then, she is a regular on the stages of the leading opera houses and festivals.

Barbara Frittoli has an extensive role repertoire. These include: Desdemona Othello, Fiordiligi Cosi fan tutte, Liú Turandot, Micaela Carmen, Donna Elvira Don Giovanni, Alice Falstaff, Luisa Luisa Miller, Countess Almaviva The Marriage of Figaro, Amelia Simon Boccanegra, Mimi La Bohème, Leonora Il trovatore, Marguerite Faust, Violetta Valéry La Traviata, Idomeneo and Elettra Suor Angelica.

Also extensive is their work on the concert stage. Her repertoire includes songs, inter alia, by Franz Schubert, Henri Duparc, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Gioachino Rossini, Richard Strauss and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. On the 1st Cologne AIDS Gala on June 19, 2006, she was standing next to, inter alia, Agnes Baltsa on stage.

Barbara Frittoli is a sought-after singer in their field, who worked with the most important conductors. These include: Claudio Abbado, Semyon Bychkov, Sir Andrew Davis, Sir Colin Davis, Daniele Gatti, Lorin Maazel, Charles Mackerras, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti and Markus Stenz.

Several CDs, videos, radio and television appearances in Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States round out the artistic activity Barbara Frittolis.

Since 1993 member of the Vienna State Opera, she was awarded the professional title of Austrian opera singer in February 2012.
