Barcaldine Region

Geography

The region is located in the center of the country about 890 km north- west of the capital Brisbane.

The largest town and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Barcaldine with about 1300 inhabitants. Other towns are Alpha, Aramac, Jericho and Muttaburra.

History

Today's Barcaldine Region was founded in 2008 from the three Shires Aramac, Barcaldine and Jericho.

Management

The Barcaldine Regional Council has seven members. The Mayor ( mayor) and six other Councillor shall be elected by all residents of the region. The LGA is not divided into electoral districts.
