Baroness (band)

Baroness is a progressive metal band that was founded in Savannah, Georgia in 2003.

Band History

2004 and 2005 appeared the first two EPs First and Second; 2007 initially followed by another EP as a split release with the band Unpersons called A Grey Sigh in a Flower Husk. In September 2007, the first LP came out called Red Album and received good reviews.

In May 2009, the band started recording the successor Blue Record, which was produced by John Congleton and published in October 2009. The album spawned Baroness first time in the U.S. album charts at number 117 on the Billboard 200, the album was slightly better rated than the debut album. After release of the album began a tour opening for Mastodon.

In July 2012, the double album Yellow & Green appeared. During the subsequent tour, the driver of the tour bus lost control near Bath, England and the vehicle plunged 9 feet from a bridge. Singer John Baizley broke his left arm and leg, drummer Allen Blickle and bassist Matt Maggioni suffered fractures to the spine, and then the tour was canceled. As a result, leaving bassist Matt Maggioni and drummer Allen Blickle the band in March 2013. They came for Sebastian Thomson of Trans Am and Nick Jost.

Singer and guitarist John Dyer Baizley creates both the album cover for your band, as well as for other bands such as Darkest Hour, The Red Chord, Kvelertak, Skeletonwitch, Black Tusk, Kylesa and Flight of the Conchords.
