Barra Airport ( IATA: BRR, ICAO: EGPR ), also ( Scottish Gaelic ) called Barra Eoilgarry Airport or port adhair Barraigh, is the only airport in the Scottish island of Barra, which belongs to the Outer Hebrides in the Atlantic. The airport is close to the scattered settlement Eoligarry on the Eoligarry peninsula in the Bay of Traigh Mhor and is the only airport in addition to the Australian island of Fraser Iceland, on which the beach at the same time forms the runway. The landing and take-off times of the aircraft are dependent on the tides, as are covered by water during high tide the entire beach and thus the start and runways. The airport has three start and runways that are only designed for small aircraft such as Britten- Norman BN -2 Islander or DHC- 6 Twin Otter. In the night only must be held emergency transport; Flights from scheduled or charter flights at night are not allowed. Operator of the airport is the Highlands and Islands Airports Limited, which is responsible for numerous small airports in Scotland and Northern Ireland.
