Economy

The most important economic sector is agriculture, mainly the cultivation of cherries, olives, chestnuts and figs. After the establishment of the agricultural cooperative Cooperativa del Campo de Nuestra Señora del Viso in the 1960s, there was a significant improvement in the economic situation in which the drastic population decline, as it took place at that time in the rest of Extremadura, could be prevented.

Also, the service and construction sectors play an increasingly important economic role.

The livestock consists mainly of cattle and goats. While the commercial cattle has remained constant since the mid-20th century, the economic and social importance of goat farming has decreased significantly. Pig is operated solely for their own consumption.

Attractions

The most prominent landmark is the parish church of San Sebastián.
