Barry E. Wilmore

Barry Eugene " Butch" Wilmore ( born December 29, 1962 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, United States) is an American astronaut.

Training

Wilmore studied after his high school degree from Tennessee Technological University, where he received both a Bachelor and a Masters in Electrical Engineering. In addition, he holds a Master Degree in Aviation Systems Engineering at the University of Tennessee.

Military career

After the end of his studies, Wilmore of the United States Navy could recruit, where he gained during his service as a pilot over 5900 hours of flight experience. He was there involved in four foreign missions of the U.S. armed forces that have led him to Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iraq. Wilmore flew under this stationing missions in the combat aircraft Vought A-7 and F/A-18 Hornet and completed it 21 combat missions during the Second Gulf War.

Later, Wilmore was trained as a test pilot, and tested a modified version of the BAE Hawk training aircraft. At the time of his appointment to the NASA astronaut cadre, he worked as a flight instructor for the United States Air Force.

Astronauts activity

In July 2000, Wilmore as a pilot member of the 18th NASA astronaut group was. After completing his two-year basic training, he received technical assignments in the Astronaut Office at the Johnson Space Center true.

Wilmore has been nominated in September 2008 for the Space Shuttle mission STS -129. He started on 16 November 2009 as a pilot of the space shuttle Atlantis to the International Space Station (ISS).

For September 30, 2014, the start of the ISS Expedition 41 is provided. Wilmore will be brought on board Soyuz TMA- 14M to the International Space Station (ISS), and then in March 2015 to return to Earth.
