Barry Lane

Barry Lane ( born June 21, 1960 in Hayes, Middlesex ) is an English professional golfer of the European Seniors Tour. With more than 600 tournaments, he is one of the veterans of the PGA European Tour. Only Sam Torrance is lined with more than 700 appearances in front of him.

Career

Lane 1976 professional golfer and increased in 1982 and the European Tour. By 1985, he made too little prize money and always had to Qualifying School. From 1986, however, he was able to establish definitively. His best years were the early 1990s, three times in the top 10 on the money list. Then came a dry spell and only after the turn of the millennium it went uphill from again. Lane won the previous five tournaments on the European Tour.

However, his greatest success had Barry Lane off the European Tour. It was the year 1995 when he was able to secure the highest winner's check of his career: U.S. $ 1 million at the Accenture World Championship of Golf, a kind of match play championship. In those days there was nowhere in the Gulf earn more.

His only appointment to the Ryder Cup team arrived in 1993, but Lane lost all its three matches and the U.S. got themselves on top of the trophy.

Barry Lane belongs to the more quiet types on the tour. His modest nature brings him a lot of sympathy with his fellow players and the audience.

Since 2010 he plays on the European Seniors Tour.
