Battle of Placentia (271)

The Battle of Placentia was fought in January of the year 271 in the vicinity of present-day Piacenza (Italy ) between Alamannic Juthungen and Roman soldiers under Emperor Aurelian. Background were border disputes in today's Italy.

Aurelian marched with his army action against the Alemanni Juthungen who had previously invaded Italy. In the battles Aurelian fell into an ambush and made by uneinsichtiges behavior with respect to its own strength struggle for his own defeat. His army was defeated by the Alemanni. The news of the defeat caused a great deal of uncertainty in Rome, there probably sparked the revolt of the Imperial Treasury Felicissimus and was ultimately initiated the building of the Aurelian Wall.
