The Baumgartenschneid is a 1448 m high mountain in the Bavarian Alps to the east above the Tegernsee.

Location and climbing opportunities

The climb to the summit is an easy hike, with the place Tegernsee two hours for the 700 meter height and 1.5 hours are to be estimated for the descent.

Also from Rottach -Egern or of Schliersee, the summit can be achieved in various ways. On the ascent route of Tegernsee and Rottach -Egern to the top you first at the inn Galaun 1060 m and then at 1207 m high rock of Riederstein past, on which the small Riederstein chapel.

The summit is also a popular winter and easily accessible destination. At not too high snow, no snow shoes are required. Grödeln, however, are recommended for icing.

In the view from the summit cross of Baumgartenschneid mainly dominated the Tegernsee. The surrounding Tegernsee Mountains such as the Wallenberg, the set Mountain, Kampen and the Fockenstein are seen. To the east of the Wendelstein dominates the view. To the North, is in good visibility to Munich.
