Tegernsee Mountains

The Tegernsee Mountains form a mountain region between the Isar River in the west and the Tegernsee, south of Lake Tegernsee and Rottach the white Valepp and Grundache, in the east, and are thus part of the Bavarian Alps. The Tegernsee Mountains therefore form the westernmost region of the Mangfall mountains.

The two highest peaks in the Tegernsee Mountains are the Halserspitze ( 1,862 m) and the Risserkogel ( 1,826 m). Well-known destinations are the Flayer ( 1,808 m), Hirschberg ( 1,670 m), the Leonard Stein ( 1,452 m), and the Fockenstein ( 1,564 m). Climbing areas are the massif of Roßstein ( 1,698 m) and Buchstein ( 1,701 m), the Plankenstein ( 1,768 m) and to a lesser extent, the Leonhardstein.
