Bavarian A V

Bavarian AV were locomotives of the Royal Bavarian State Railways.

This design was the first locomotive from the Bavarian State Railways. It was developed from the type A IV. The AV series was in contrast to the A IV a deeper and broader boiler firebox. In addition, the accessibility of the controls has been improved. Only later were fitted with a steam dome. Since the vehicles were operated on the southern side of the Danube with peat, they had a pear-shaped fireplace. In addition, the vehicles had different dimensions.

They were equipped with a Tender of the type 3 T 4.8.
