Abbey beer is a Belgian monasteries ( or outside the monasteries accordance with traditional monastery recipe ) produced top-fermented beer. In Belgium there are about 70 different abbey beer brands. Some of the beer names are taken from the respective community, other churches are dedicated to ruins, saints or shrines.
