Belá, Žilina District
Bela ( until 1927 slovak " Bela pri VARINE "; Hungarian Bella) is a city and a municipality in Žilina Okres of Žilinský in northern Slovakia. The population was 3,011 persons on December 31, 2009.
Geography
It lies at the eastern end of the Žilinská kotlina ( " Žilina boiler " ) between the Mala Fatra in the south and the Kysucká Highlands in the north, at the confluence of the streams Beliansky creek and Varínka, which opens latter a few miles west in the Waag. The center, which at the height of 453 m nm lies 18 kilometers from Žilina is removed and the place is located on the main road 583
The municipality also includes the hamlet of Kubíková, which lies on the road to Stara Bystrica.
History
The place is first mentioned in 1378 as Bela writing.
