Belina

Belina (up to 1927 Slovak " Beňa " or " Biena " 1927-1948 " Béna "; Hungarian Béna ) is a municipality in southern Slovakia. It is located in the northwestern part of the hill country Cerová Highlands, 3 km south of Fiľakovo away. The vast majority of the population is Hungarian- (2001 around 90 percent of the population ).

The territory of the municipality was first mentioned in 1240 as terra Baldung, the place itself appeared in 1371 for the first time in written form as Bezin on. The residents were employed over the centuries, especially in agriculture. 1910 lived 410 inhabitants in the village. From 1938 to 1945, the village belonged because of the First Vienna Award to Hungary.

The existing church was built in the village in 1896.
