Rapovce

Rapovce ( until 1927 slovak also " Rapovec "; Hungarian Rapp ) is a municipality in the south of Slovakia with 979 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011). It belongs to Okres Lučenec, kraj a circle of Banskobystrický.

Geography

The municipality is located in the pelvis Lučenská kotlina ( part of the larger Juhoslovenská kotlina ) by the stream Mučínsky creek just before it flows into the Ipeľ near the border with Hungary. South of the town extends the highlands Cerová Highlands. The center is located at an altitude of 175 m nm and is located seven kilometers from Lučenec.

History

Rapovce was first mentioned in 1299 as Rop writing and belonged to various noble families. During the Turkish wars in the 16th century, the village was destroyed and rebuilt in the 17th century. 1828 are listed 57 houses and 496 inhabitants. In the 19th and 20th centuries there was a lignite mine.

The municipality belongs to the independent mediaeval center Demečer ( 1512 mentioned as Dewecher ) south of the capital, which was ravaged by the Turks in the 17th century and then rebuilt only as a hamlet.

Until 1918 the county Neograd lying and predominantly Hungarian-speaking part place the Kingdom of Hungary and came after Czechoslovakia. On the basis of the First Vienna Award, it was 1938-45 again in Hungary.
