Benešov (Blansko District)

Benešov ( German Beneschau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers north-east of Boskovice and belongs to Okres Blansko.

Geography

Benešov is located on a plateau at the northwestern foot of Skalky ( 735 m) in the Drahany country. In the north, the Paprč ( 721 m) rises.

Neighboring towns are Korenec in the north, Žleb and Horni Štěpánov in the northeast, Buková in the east, and Protivanov Skelná Huť the southeast, Suchy in the south, and Velenov Vratíkov in the southwest and Okrouhlá.

History

The impenetrable forests of Drahany country belonged in 1078 to the Foundation's Otto I for the Hradisko. Through the monastery was the settlement of German glassmakers families in the mountains. At the site of Pavlovský dvůr in Pavlov was a glassworks to the glassmaking village Benýška was created. The settlement Benýška went out again later.

The first mention of Benešov place in the year 1362. To a paved courtyard as the seat of a Vladiken was a village settlement. 1610 was the site of 20 houses and led a seal with illustration of a running deer. 1755 was created on the Pavlovský dvůr the village of Pavlov.

1783 took place in the course of the Josephine reforms, the dissolution of the monastery Hradisko and Benešov was administered by the religious fund. During this time, the demolition of the parties, in their place, the church was carried out.
