Bernal, Argentina

Bernal is a city in the northwest of the Partidos Quilmes in Buenos Aires Province in Argentina. It is located in the southeast of the metropolitan area of Buenos Aires, just north of the actual Quilmes adjacent.

History

The name Bernal comes from an influential family, who had probably settled as early as the colonial period in the area around Buenos Aires. Pedro Bernal, who lived in the district of Quilmes, announced in 1850 a part of his property into small parcels. This year is now regarded as the founding date of Bernal.

Population

Of the 109 914 inhabitants, in 2001 76 499 in the district Bernal Oeste (West Bernal ) Bernal and 33 415 in Este (East Bernal ). Bernal is the second largest city of Quilmes and has 21 % of the population of this partidos.
