Bernard Rajzman

Bernard Rajzman ( born April 25, 1957 in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian sports official and former volleyball player.

Career

Sporting career

Rajzman began playing at the age of eleven years at Fluminense Football. Due to its relatively small size, he switched to volleyball. At 17 he was the first time in the squad of the Brazilian national team. With her he participated in three Olympic Games. The biggest success was winning the silver medal at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles.

He also won seven times the South American Championship, the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1983, silver at the World Championships in 1982 and bronze at the Volleyball World Cup in 1981.

On 27 October 2005, he became the first Brazilian in the volleyball hall of fame.

Sports policy

After finishing his sports career, he moved into politics. He was National Secretary for Sport in the government Collor and from 1994 member of the Partido Progress Ista Brasileiro (PPB ) in the Assembléia Legislativa do Rio de Janeiro.

Rajzman is a member of Comitê Olímpico Brasileiro (COB ) and President of Comissão Nacional de Atletas. In October 2013, will be included in the International Olympic Committee (IOC ).

He is the father of the surfer Phil Rajzman.
