Bernardino Poccetti

Bernardino Poccetti ( born August 27, 1548 Florence, † November 10, 1612 ibid; actually Bernardo Barbatelli ) was an Italian painter.

Poccetti studied with M. Ghirlandaio, then went to Rome, where he studied Raphael's works and trained especially in the grotesque paintings, which belong to his best creations. On his return to Florence he created religious frescoes in the cloisters of Santa Maria Novella, Santa Annunziata and San Marco. Nevertheless, its importance lies primarily in its ornately decorated ( Deckenarabesken in the Uffizi ).
