Biff Byford

Peter " Biff " Byford ( born January 15, 1951 in Honley, West Yorkshire ) is an English metal singer. He is the founder and frontman of the heavy metal band Saxon.

History of Saxon

Biff founded in 1976 with Paul Quinn, Steve " Doobie " Dawson, Graham Oliver and Pete Gill, the band Son of a Bitch, which renamed itself in 1978 in Saxon. In 1979, the first record deal. In the same year came the first, self-titled album Saxon on the market.

The band has released 20 studio albums to date. She could, unlike other British metal bands like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden or Judas Priest reach any major chart success, but is known for a large fan base and have at many festivals a headlining status.

Biff Byford played before Saxon from 1970 to 1976 in the band Blue Condition.

In addition, Byford had several guest appearances on albums by other artists in his career.

In 1990 he sang on the album Bad Bad Girls of the English band Fastway. In 1999, he spoke on the CD Taragon the German band Freedom Call the track Tears of Taragon (Story version).

In 2005 he sang on the album of the German band Destruction Inventor of Evil in the song The Alliance of Hellhoundz.

2007 and 2010 he helped with the albums with the German power metal band Helloween. On Gambling with the Devil ( 2007), he spoke at the song Crack The Riddle in the album 7 Sinners (2010), he spoke at Who Is Mr.Madman? .

In 2008 he sang on the song Celebrate at the album Fear No Evil by Doro Pesch.

2013 he took over the role of Reason on the album The Mystery of Time by Avantasia, the metal opera of the German singer Tobias Sammet. He sang on three tracks ( Black Orchid, Savior in the Clock Work, The Great Mystery )

2014 he recorded a cover version of the song Starstruck for a Ronnie James Dio tribute album called This Is Your Life with Motörhead.
