Bill Daily

Bill Daily ( born August 30, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa ) is an American comedian and actor who was best known for his roles in sitcoms.

Life

Since dailies father died early, he grew up as an orphan. At the age of eleven he moved with his mother and other family members to Chicago, where he spent the rest of his youth. After finishing school, he left home and tried his hand at a career as a musician. He played bass in many jazz bands in clubs in the Midwest region of the United States, took place at this time, however, his true destiny, the comedy, and began in the same clubs, where he was previously found as a musician, as a stand- up comedian occur. He soon appeared in the larger clubs in the country. After the Goodman Theater School visit he worked for the NBC television network in Chicago as an announcer and head of department and eventually became director of personnel. The manager of NBC liked dailies smart appearance and excellent timing, which is why he was selected in the 60's for numerous guest appearances on sitcoms such as My mother the car and Bewitched ( Bewitched ). Through these performances he fell to the screenwriter Sidney Sheldon, of the ideal performer for one of the roles in his new sitcom I Dream of Jeannie in him, saw ( in the original I dream of Jeannie ). In retrospect, this one of the most important moments in Daily's career. In Dream of Jeannie Daily embodied the role of the U.S. Army test pilot and astronaut Roger Healey and best friend of the main character Tony Nelson (played by Larry Hagman ). For Daily, this was a dream role. He played the role of Healey completely effortless and so convincing that it seemed as if he only he himself was not at all looking played. 1972 took over the Daily his most famous role as Captain Howard Borden in the Bob Newhart Show. Later in his career he had occasional guest appearances in the series ALF as a psychologist Larry. At present Daily lives with his third wife Becky in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Even in retirement he still occurs occasionally in guest roles, and leads to a local children's theater director.
