Bill Dellinger

Bill Dellinger (actually William Solon Dellinger, born March 23, 1934 in Grants Pass, Oregon, United States) is an American athlete who was successful in the late 1950s and early 1960s as a long distance runner. He specializes in the 5000 meters.

The 1.75 m wide and 62 -kg athlete competed for the Oregon Track Club in Eugene.

After ending his playing career he became a coach. Among his proteges was, inter alia, Steve Prefontaine.

Bill Dellinger took part in three Olympic Games: 1956 in Melbourne, 1960 in Rome and 1964 in Tokyo. In Melbourne, he qualified as a third party in its forward travel 14:26,92 min easy, but then gave up in the final.
