Birgit Keil
Birgit Keil ( born September 22, 1944 in Kowar 's ( Kovářov ) in the Sudetenland ) is a German dancer and longtime prima ballerina of the Stuttgart Ballet.
Life
Keil received her dance training in Bad Kissingen, Stuttgart and London. Since 1961, member of the Stuttgart Ballet in 1963 it was under John Cranko soloist. She danced all the major classical and modern lead roles and has guest starred on the great ballet theaters in the world. She was dancing partner of famous dancers such as Richard Cragun, Rudolf Nureyev and Mikhail Baryshnikov. John Cranko as well as John Neumeier, Jirí Kylián, Glen Tetley, Heinz Spoerli, Hans van Manen and Uwe Scholz created his own choreography for them. Keil was famous in the world of ballet as the German ballerina.
Birgit Keil, which was in 1980 awarded the title Kammertänzerin, occurred in 1995 on the stage and, together with the Milan patron of the arts Maddalena di Mina Sospiro in Stuttgart Dance Foundation, which is sponsored by Diane von Württemberg, Lothar Späth. Furthermore, Keil is Director and Professor of the Academy of Dance of the University of Music and Performing Arts in Mannheim as well as director of ballet at the Badische Staatstheater in Karlsruhe.
Honors and Awards
Birgit Keil was honored throughout her career with numerous awards, including: Sudeten Recognition Award (1966 ), Medal of Merit of the State of Baden -Württemberg ( 1979), the German Critics Prize (1981 ), Emmy Award (1984 ), John Cranko Medal ( 1985), Federal Cross of Merit, First Class (1985 ), citing as an ordinary member of the Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts, class of Arts and Sciences ( 1987), German dance Award (1998), Big Sudeten German Culture prize (1999 ). In autumn 2005 she was awarded an honorary membership of the London Ballet Circle. In January 2008, the Konrad -Adenauer -Stiftung in Berlin Birgit Keil honored with a tribute for their exemplary commitment to the dance junior, its outstanding performance as head of the Academy of Dance and ballet director.
