Bishop of Krottenkopf

The Bishop ( 2033 m) is a summit of the Bavarian Alps.

It is located in the westernmost part of the Bavarian Prealps in Estergebirge near Garmisch -Partenkirchen.

The usual increase in leads from Oberau over the Oberauer climb to the saddle between the bishop and Hoher Fricken and on over the West back on good tracks through the pines to the summit (a total of about 3.5 hours for the ascent ).

Origin of the name

The origin of the name is not clear. One theory is that the mountain was named because of its, a miter -like shape so. According to another theory, the name is derived from a family with the last name Bishop who may had in earlier times there grazing, timber, or mining rights.
