BLACKstreet

Blackstreet is an American R & B-/Hip-Hop-Gruppe.

History

Blackstreet was founded in 1992 and celebrated its first successes in 1993. In 1994 the band released their debut album, Blackstreet published in 1993 as a result of debut single " Baby Be Mine" could be placed only in the U.S. R & B charts. However, the album went platinum and sold over a million copies and the subsequent singles were placed in the top ten.

However, the breakthrough came only in 1996 Another with four platinum-plated album level and the hit " No Diggity " the placed internationally as well, Top 20 in Australia, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, top 10 in Sweden, Norway, Great Britain, the Netherlands and number 1 in New Zealand and the United States. Overall, they succeeded in the next two years, two more number one hits " Do not Leave Me " and "Take Me There " to land a duet with singer Mýa. Both in New Zealand.

In Germany, it hardly managed to build on older results. Even with the success number Girlfriend / Boyfriend with Janet Jackson, Ja Rule and Eve they reached only number 98 in the German charts, while the top 20 was achieved in Japan, South Africa, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Although the single was relatively well received and almost everywhere reached the Top 40 on the charts, the album sold just over 500,000 times and was the weakest sold by then.

After the hit single with Janet Jackson followed, except for a few collaborations with the aforementioned Janet and with Ma $ e, which had international success, no more singles and the group took a three year break, and then in 2002 the studio work for their 2003 published album " level II" to begin. But the comeback singles " Wizzy Wow " and " Deep" could hardly attract attention. Except in the UK and the U.S. R & B charts, the songs placed anywhere. There was a label change to DreamWorks Records.
