The Bolsa de Valores, Mercadorias e Futuros de São Paulo - BM & FBovespa SA officially short in São Paulo is the stock market of Brazil. The BM & FBovespa was created in May 2008 by the merger of Bolsa de Valores de São Paulo ( Bovespa ) and the Bolsa de Mercadorias e Futuros.

The Bovespa is since the reform in 2000, the only stock exchange in the country and with 70% market share at the same time the largest marketplace for shares in Latin America.

The Bovespa was founded on August 23, 1890 by Emilio Rangel Pestana, on Rua 15 de Novembro in São Paulo. Until 1966, the stock market was a state institution, and was only in that year, a private non -profit organization transformed. It was conducted from 93 brokerages.

Equity indices

The main financial indices of the BOVESPA are the Bovespa Index ( Ibovespa ), which reflects 80 % of the market capitalization and the index Bovespa 50 ( IBRX -50) with the 50 most important companies in Brazil. There is also the part of the Dow Jones Brazil Index in USD index family for the Global indices of Dow Jones. Total calculated Dow Jones 65 country indices reflect the 98% of world market capitalization. The totality of the Subsindizes measures both sectors and the size of the stock segments for each country. A total of around 394 (2006) are companies listed on the Bovespa traded.
