Bob Gunton

Robert Patrick Gunton, Jr. (* November 15, 1945 in Santa Monica, California) is an American film and theater actor.

Life and work

Gunton, who served in the United States Army and as a result of the Vietnam War 1969-1971, worked at the beginning of his career on Broadway in various musicals. He portrayed the role of Juan Peron in the Broadway version of Evita, among others, in 1980. For his performance he was awarded the Drama Desk Award and a Tony Award. Another Tony nomination received Gunton ten years later, in 1990, for his portrayal of the title role in Sweeney Todd.

Since 1981, Gunton is also faced with the film camera. He made his film debut in the thriller The rollover plot by Alan J. Pakula.
