Bob Kilger

Robert " Bob" Kilger ( born June 29, 1944 in Cornwall, Ontario ) is a Canadian politician and previously worked as a businessman and as a hockey player and coach.

Career

Born in Cornwall Kilger is the former Liberal MP in the House of Commons constituency Stormont Dundas from 1988 to 2000 and Stormont -Dundas -South Glengarry 2000 to 2004. He was the Chief Government Whip and Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees of the Whole of the House of Commons.

Prior to his political life, he was a businessman and coached the Cornwall Royals of the Ontario Hockey League to a Memorial Cup victory in 1981. During his time as hockey players went Kilger 1963-1965 for the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey Association on ice. He was also a referee in the National Hockey League. His son Chad Kilger is a former professional hockey in the NHL.

Kilger was elected on 13 November 2006 with 49.4 % of the vote for mayor of the city of Cornwall.
