Bobby Allen

Bobby Allen ( born November 14, 1978 in Weymouth, Massachusetts) is an American professional ice hockey defender who holds since 2008 the status of an Unrestricted Free Agent.

Career

Bobby Allen began his career as a hockey player in 1997 for the ice hockey team from Boston College. During the NHL Entry Draft in 1998, he was selected as a total 52 players from the Boston Bruins. For the Boston farm team, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, he gave Allen in the 2001/ 02 season his debut in professional hockey. In 2002, he was delivered to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for Sean Brown. Towards the end of the season 2001/ 02 Allen first played for the AHL farm team the Oilers, the Hamilton Bulldogs. In the following season Allen was almost exclusively in the squad the Bulldogs. Although Allen played in the 2002/03 season for the first time in the National Hockey League for Edmonton, but it remained his only mission of the team, because in the season 2003/ 04 the Americans stood exclusively in the squad of the newly established farm teams of the Oilers, the Toronto Roadrunners.

On July 22, 2004, he received as a free agent contract with the New Jersey Devils. However, the following two years playing the defender again exclusively in the AHL farm team for the New Jersey, the Albany River Rats.

On 17 July 2006 Allen signed as a free agent again at his former club Boston Bruins. Though he initially stood in the squad of the farm team Providence Bruins, he was on 17 January 2007 his debut for Boston in a game against the Buffalo Sabres. By the end of the season he played in 31 games and recorded his first three assists. In the 2007 /08 season, Allen was only in Boston squad, but his contract is not extended. Subsequently, however, Allen found no new club so that he can be committed since 2008 as a free agent.
