Sean Brown

Sean Brown ( born November 5, 1976 in Oshawa, Ontario ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who played as a defender in the EC KAC.

Career

Brown played during his junior time in the Ontario Hockey League for the Belleville Bulls. Brown was selected 21st place in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1995 by the Boston Bruins. A year later he moved within the OHL to the Sarnia Sting.

Even before his first NHL use he was traded along with Mariusz Czerkawski and a first-round draft law for goalkeeper Bill Ranford to the Edmonton Oilers. From the season 1996/97 Brown played six years with the Edmonton Oilers, but was in the first two seasons, often in their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, used in the AHL. In March 2002, he moved back to Boston to finally sign a year later as a free agent with the New Jersey Devils. There he played a few games in the NHL, mostly however in the AHL farm team of the Devils, the Albany River Rats. In March 2006, he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks and finished the season end for the time being his NHL career to play in Germany at the DEG Metro Stars.

Due to a lengthy injury to the groin and some playing time penalties Brown could not convince his contract was not renewed. As the Nuremberg defenders Jame Pollock announced his move to the Washington Capitals in the NHL, Brown was brought in as replacement to Nuremberg.

In March 2008 it was announced that Brown would change for the 2008/09 season for the Austrian record champion EC KAC. There he quickly became one of the key players in defense and won with the team the championship. In the following season, however, he was injured after just six games at the shoulder and fell for the entire season from. Only in the last game of the quarterfinals, he ran on again, but could the resignation of EC KAC also no longer prevent.
