Bobby Holík

Robert " Bobby" Holik ( born January 1, 1971 in Jihlava, Czechoslovakia ) is a former American- Czech hockey players. During his career, 1987-2009 played for the Hartford Whalers, New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers and Atlanta Thrashers in the National Hockey League.

Career

The 1.83 m tall striker began his career at Dukla Jihlava Czech Club and was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1989 as tenth in the first round of the Hartford Whalers. Even in his first season he came in 84 games for the Whalers for use and scoring 21 goals and 22 assists.

After two successful seasons with the Whalers Holik moved in 1992 to the New Jersey Devils, for which he was on the ice for ten years. With the Devils could Holik 1995 and 2000, the North American Hockey Championship, the Stanley Cup win. 1998 and 1999 he was also together with the best players of the season in the NHL All-Star Game.

Before the season 2002/ 03 he joined as a free agent with the New York Rangers, according to the 2004/ 05 lockout season, he signed the current contract in Atlanta.

For the Czech national ice hockey team Holik contested the World Championships in 1990 and 1991, in 20 World Cup matches, the right-handed shooter scored four goals and eight assists.

Holik is the son of Jaroslav Holik, who in 1972 with the Czechoslovak national ice hockey team won the World Cup and also the Czech U20 team to two World Championship titles (2000, 2001) led. His uncle Jiří Holik is one of the most successful ice hockey players of Czechoslovakia and a member of the IIHF Hall of Fame. He is also married to a U.S. citizen, with the result that he has the American nationality since 4 November 1996. Former NHL player František Musil is married to Holíks sister.
