Bodb Derg

Bodb [ boðv ], more precisely Bodb Derg ( " the red one" ), is a figure of Celtic mythology of Ireland, which is due to an ancient Celtic deity. He is seen as a god of war, and a counterpart to the much better documented goddess Badb.

In Lebor Gabala Eirenn he is seen either as a son of the Dagda or his son Ibath. After the Dagda has resigned as king of the Tuatha de Danann, he distributes the elf hill ( Sidhe ) to his followers. Bodb Derg and Manannan mac Lir share after several disputes the rule among themselves, with the Bodb Síd al Femen ( " Femen elf hill beyond ," in Slievenamon, County Tipperary ) takes possession. Manannan married as a sign of reconciliation Bodbs daughter Aobh ( in another version marries Manannans father Lir them). His other daughter Sadhbh is the wife of Fionn mac Cumhaill. Bodb Derg is considered the Feenkönig of Munster.

In the story Cath Finntrágha ( "The Battle of Ventry " ) from the Mythological Cycle Fionn mac Cumhaill and he helps his Fianna, against the " king of the world " ( rí to domhain ) to fight.
