Boddington, Western Australia

Boddington is a town in the Wheatbelt region in the Australian state of Western Australia and is located 123 km south-east of Perth on the motor road from Williams to Pinjarra.

History

The city is named after its founder Henry Boddington, who was a shepherd .. The first European settlers arrived in the early 1860s in the region. 1912, the foundation of the town was officially announced. During the 1920s Boddington has been established.

1961 bushfires destroyed the local timber industry. Around 1969 the railway line for transporting timber was abandoned, so the employment plummeted in Boddington. The construction of the Boddington bauxite mine in 1979 and the opening of the Boddington Gold Mine in 1986, Boddington developed into a mining town.

Today, a street carnival takes place every year in November. The city has a high school, a branch of the National Australia Bank, shopping, and public housing and a Tele Centro.
