Boden Municipality

Soil is a municipality (in Swedish kommun ) in the northern Swedish province of Norrbotten County and the historic province of Norrbotten. The capital of the district is ground.

Geography

The territory of soil, approximately 100 kilometers extending along the Luleälvens, is a distinctive hill country with numerous lakes and wetlands. The municipality is crossed also by about 30 kilometers northeast of Luleälven parallel Råneälven. Approx. 75 % of the municipal area is covered by forest.

The valley of the Luleälven is an old cultural landscape with villages and hamlets of the 16th century. Capital is ground in the south of the municipality, other villages (Swedish tätorter ) are Bodträskfors, Gunnarsbyn, Harad, Svartlå, Sävast, Unbyn and Vittjärv.

Economy

Soil is a pronounced service community. More than 80 per cent of workers are employed in the tertiary sector and only 4.5 percent in the productive sector. The largest employers (apart from the community ), the Swedish defense forces ( with a number of associations ), the Swedish railway and the county council.
