Bojan Prašnikar

Bojan Prašnikar ( born February 3, 1953 in Šmartno ob Paki, SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav football player and current Slovenian football coach. He was from 2007 to 2009 coach of Bundesliga club Energie Cottbus.

Prasnikar in court scandal and corruption

The Slovenian journalist Mitja Lomovsek revealed: The coach should have players used in Slovenia for money. Coach Bojan Prasnikar alleged to have called in his time as manager of NK Maribor cash to use potential Benchwarmers in stem - Eleven. A trial against the journalists Lomovsek lost Prasnikar. Prasnikar is said to have met at a gas station in Tepanja ( between the capital Ljubljana and Maribor) with player consultant Miran Vuk. There supposedly change in total 10 000 German Mark the owner. Prasnikar alleged to have called Vuk the sum that he gives more operating time players Nastya Ceh and Marko Kmetec and makes them regulars. Prasnikar loses in second instance and must bear the costs. Career as a player

The striker began his career in 1964 at NK Šmartno, who was then, although Šmartno ob Paki had only 900 inhabitants, in the Slovenian first division, a Regional Yugoslavia played. In the 1975/76 season he was top scorer, after which he moved to NK Olimpija Ljubljana, where he was able to win this award three more times.

After he returned to NK Šmartno 1977, he served there between 1979 and 1983 as a player-coach and led the club in 1981 the Slovenian championship, winning the third Yugoslav league. Then he played one year in the Austrian club unterklassigen SVG lead castle, where he also learned the German language.

Career as a coach

After his final career end as a player Prašnikar coached 1984-1989 NK Elkroj Mozirje and between 1989 and 1991 NK Celje Ingrad.

Shortly after the independence of Slovenia Prašnikar became the first coach of his country. Since the Slovenian team was only allowed to deny friendlies due to the pending inclusion in UEFA and FIFA, the coach came in December 1993, returned voluntarily.

It was followed by engagements at Mura Murska Sobota (1991-1992) and Olimpija Ljubljana ( 1992-1994). With Olimpija he won two championships in that time (1993, 1994) and a national cup victory (1993). He then coached Rudar Velenje (1994-1996) and from 1996 NK Maribor. Between January and July 1998, he also coached the Slovenian national team, but resigned due to the double burden.

In his first term in Maribor, where he also three championships (1997, 1998, 1999 ) and two national cups (1997, 1999), also won falls the biggest international success Prašnikars. 1999 succeeded in reaching the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, a feat achieved so far no other Slovenian club managed (as of October 2007).

Between 2000 and 2001, the former striker trained again Olimpija Ljubljana in the first round of the 2001/02 season ERA Šmartno. In the second half of the same season, he was again at NK Maribor under contract, with whom he won the championship in 2002, before he took over, the Slovene national team for a third time.

Since the team, however, failed to qualify for the 2004 European Championship, after 2000 and 2002 participated in European and World Championships, was dismissed him by the Association. In the 2004/05 season he coached for the second time Mura Murska Sobota.

As of July 2005 Prašnikar trained with the Cypriot club AEL Limassol first time a foreign club. This he left, however, in December of the same year again to work in Primorje Ajdovščina.

Of 28 September 2007 to 31 May 2009 was Prašnikar coach of Cottbus. His assistants were Guido Hoffmann and Brazilian Franklin Bittencourt. Thanks to the receipt class with Energie Cottbus he was allowed after the 2007/ 08 season in the " Golden Book " of the city to enroll. A year later Prašnikar and Cottbus parted after the poor performance of the team in the 2008 /09 season.

Beginning of April 2010 Prašnikar was introduced as the new coach of the Slovenian first division side NK Rudar Velenje. He got there a contract until the end of the season.
