Bolivia national football team

The Bolivian national football team is the national football team of Bolivia.

The Bolivian Football Federation Federación Boliviana de Fútbol was founded in 1925. A year later, membership in FIFA. The jersey colors of the national team - nicknamed " Verde " ( = the Greens) - are green for jersey and socks and white for the pants.

Home advantage

Their home games wearing the Bolivian national team at the Estadio Hernando Siles in La Paz, which brings them a home advantage of a special kind: The stadium is located about 3,600 meters above sea level. Many Away teams have problems with the thin mountain air as they arrive a few days before, which is too short for a full acclimatization, while the local players usually several weeks had to adapt to the conditions - but the advantage is not as great as in previous years, as many now arrive Bolivian national team until shortly before the game from the lowlands.

After strong protests from the height limit later an exemption for La Paz ( 3,600 meters), however, was amended in June 2007 to 3,000 meters, and adopted.

On 1 April 2009 the Bolivian national team managed a historic 6-1 victory in the World Cup qualifier against the much stronger einzuschätzende Argentina.

Bolivia so far managed to qualify only for a sporty World Cup finals. At the first tournament you participated by invitation in 1950 because Argentina did not compete.

The biggest success was winning the Copa América in 1963 in their own country.
