Bonnie Bartlett

Bonnie Bartlett ( born June 20, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin ) is an American actress.

Life and career

Bartlett's father was a struggling actor, who worked as an insurance agent. Bartlett grew up in Moline on in Illinois and studied at Northwestern University Theatre and later with Lee Strasberg. From 1955 to 1959, the young actress starred in the TV series Love of Life, a very popular American TV soap, where she played the heroine Vanessa Dale.

In the 1960s and 1970s she concentrated on her maternal role and stepped on less. In 1974 she returned to the screen and played in the family series Little House until 1977, the role of Grace Snider Edwards. This is followed by her role as Ellen joined Craig in the hospital drama St. Elsewhere ( St. Elsewhere ) at what Bartlett in 1986 and 1987 each awarded an Emmy Award. Ellen was the wife of the surgeon Dr. Mark Craig, who was played by Bartlett's husband William Daniels.

In the movie Twins - Twins in 1988 she played the mother of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. In 1993 she had a role as a senator in the movie Dave, where Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver played the lead roles.

Bartlett is married since 1951 with William Daniels, whom she already met at Northwestern University in Chicago. A 1961 born child of the couple died a few hours after birth. The actor couple adopted two boys, Michael and Robert; Bartlett presented her second career for more than ten years back in order to look after the children. Both sons are active as an artist today.
