History

Rugby has a long tradition in the Scottish Borders, the Border League, the top league of the sport was the world. As the Heineken Cup was introduced, took the Scottish FA to attempt to put together regional teams to compete with the top clubs from England, France, Ireland and Wales can. The Scottish Borders were part of these considerations, however, were merged little later because of financial difficulties with the club from Edinburgh at the " Edinburgh Reivers ". In 2002, the team was re- established as an independent team and appeared as " The Borders " in the Celtic League.

On 27 March 2007, the Scottish FA announced the dissolution of the Reivers known in order to save costs. With the end of the association, many players move to the Glasgow Warriors, one of the two remaining professional clubs in Scotland. Further to the decision of the Association, an initiative to rebuild a team has been formed in the region; a project which so far but still had no success.
