Borough of Burnley

Burnley is a local government district with the status of a borough in the county of Lancashire in England. Administrative center is the city of Burnley, in the more than four-fifths of the population lives. In addition, the district includes several villages, of which Padiham is the largest. Burnley is a stronghold of the far-right British National Party.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the former County Borough of Burnley and Burnley Rural District.
