Boštjan Cesar

Bostjan Cesar ( born July 9, 1982 in Ljubljana) is a Slovenian footballer who has since 2010 at Chievo Verona under contract.

Career

Association

Bostjan Cesar began his career in the youth at NK Olimpija Ljubljana until he still moved in the youth field to Dinamo Zagreb. There also began in 2000 to his professional career. In 2001 he was loaned to NK Croatia Sesvete, but he could not prove there and returned to Zagreb. Four years later he was awarded with as little success to his former youth club NK Olimpija Ljubljana. During his career at Dinamo Zagreb, he won the first HNL, the Croatian Cup in 2002 and 2004 and the Croatian Supercup in 2002 and 2003 in 2002/ 03.

In 2005 he achieved his big breakthrough. He exchanged for 2.5 million euros to France Olympique Marseille and there wrote a three-year contract. In August 2007, he was awarded with a purchase option at the English club West Bromwich Albion. His debut for West Bromwich, he completed on 17 August in the Football League Cup in a 1-0 victory over AFC Bournemouth. His league debut he made but only on 23 October in a 2-1 victory over FC Blackpool. His first and last goal for West Bromwich 2 February 2008, he scored in the 2-1 win against Burnley. He won with them the Football League Championship 2007 /08. Despite good performances, the coach Tony Mowbray decided to fulfill an obligation of Cesar and so he returned to Marseille at the end of the season. After the end of the loan period Cesar was not happy at Marseille. Although he completed only 24 games he won with his team the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006 and was the 2006/ 07 French runners-up.

In January 2009 he signed for a transfer fee of 400,000 euros a contract with Grenoble Foot 38 and scored in his second game with his first goal in a 1-1 draw against FC Girondins Bordeaux.

In July 2010 he moved to Italy free transfer to Serie A Chievo Verona.

National

Cesar began his international career in 2001, where he played for the Slovenian U -21. Overall, he played 15 games and scored one goal.

On 12 February 2003 he made his senior international debut in a 1:5 defeat in a friendly against Switzerland. So far, he completed 74 international matches and scored six international goals.
