Bougnon

Bougnon is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bougnon situated at an altitude of 280 m above sea level, about 9 km north- northwest of the city of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, on the plateau east of the Talniederung Scyotte, between the valley of the Saône to the west and the basin of Vesoul in the east.

The area of ​​9.18 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the rolling countryside of the east of the Saônetals. From northeast to southwest, the area is crossed by the Talniederung the Scyotte, which provides for drainage Saône. The flood plain has a maximum width of 500 m and is on average 250 m. Flanked the valley on its eastern side by a plateau, which reaches a height of 280 m. Here predominant agricultural use. The eastern boundary is marked by the Grove of the Bois du Chanoi. To the north- east, the municipality area above the little valley of the Ruisseau de Trépoux extends to the wooded summit of the Grand Bois. Neighboring communities of Bougnon are Provenchère in the north, and Auxon Pusy- et- Épenoux in the east, and Charmoille Grattery in the south and Port-sur -Saône and Villers -sur- Port to the west.

History

Is first mentioned Bougnon in the year 1242. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. Together with the Franche -Comté Bougnon came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. The homestead of Vaurenaud originally belonged to the Order of Malta. Today Bougnon is the administrative seat of the comprehensive 13 villages municipal association Communauté de communes Agir Ensemble.

Attractions

The village church of Bougnon shows Gothic style elements, but was partially rebuilt in the 18th century. Additional attractions include a seat of power, which now serves as an agricultural operation, the round fountain (1885 ) on the Place de la Frôterie and several more wells.

Population

With 510 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bougnon one of the smaller towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 393 persons were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the mid-1970s again. Since then, the population has doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Bougnon was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today there are various operations of local small businesses, especially in the sectors of food industry and construction. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road, leading from Vesoul after Faverney. Further road links exist with Grattery, Port -sur -Saône, Provenchère, Pusy and Auxon.
