Conflandey

Conflandey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Conflandey situated at an altitude of 223 m above sea level, 5 km north of Port- sur -Saône and about 15 km northwest of the town of Vesoul (air line). The village is located in the central part of the department, on the western edge of the valley of the Saône, at the confluence of the Lanterne.

The area of ​​5.30 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the upper Saônetals. The eastern and southern boundary runs mostly along the Saône, which draws a flung eastward arc here. History

Remains from the Gallo- Roman period suggest a very early settlement of the area. Is first mentioned Conflandey in the year 1214. During the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The local noble family de Conflandey is attested since the 13th century, and later the fief went to the Lords of Grammont. Attractions

Population

Conflandey was early on an industrial affair village. Most important employer is the wire factory ( Tréfilerie de Conflandey ), which has several branches in Faverney, Xertigny, Rougemont -le- Château and Nitra. Many workers are also commuters who do their work in the larger towns in the area and in the agglomeration Vesoul.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes. The main access is from the department of road leading from Port -sur- Saône to Jussey. Further road links exist with Chargey -lès- Port and Amoncourt.
