Bouhans-et-Feurg

Bouhans -et- Feurg is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Bouhans -et- Feurg situated at an altitude of 209 m above sea level, 7 km north-west of Gray and about 40 km northeast of the city of Dijon (air line). The village is located in the extreme west of the département, in the northwest of the plateau landscape Saônetals, in the valley of the Soufroide.

The area of ​​9.75 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the region of the plateau northwest of the Saônetals. From northwest to southeast, the area is crossed by the Soufroide that provides for drainage Saône. The Talniederung is on average 205 m and has a width of around 500 meters. It is about 20 to 30 m deep sunk into the surrounding plateau.

The plateau consists of an alternation of calcareous and sandy- marly sediments of the Upper Jurassic and Tertiary. It is broken down by various depressions that open up to the Valley of the Soufroide. On the plateau dominates agricultural use. With 247 m is achieved at the height northeast of the village is the highest elevation of Bouhans -et- Feurg. Quite the Northeast has Bouhans -et- Feurg share of the forest area of ​​the Bois de Lalleau. To the southwest, the municipality's area extends into the grove of the Pied du Mont (245 m).

The municipality is double (203 m), both located in the Valley of Soufroide from the villages Bouhans (209 m) and Feurg. Neighboring communities of Bouhans -et- Feurg are Auvet -et -la- Chapelotte in the north, Chargey -lès- Gray and Nantilly in the east, the south and Poyans Autrey- lès-Gray in the West.

History

The territory was inhabited in prehistoric times, which is a Bronze Age grave and remains of a Roman road traffic testify. Is first mentioned in the year 638 Bouhans in a donation to the monastery of Beza. In the Middle Ages the village belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The secular rule has held the monastery Beza 1142-1790. Together with the Franche -Comté Bouhans came with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. In 1806 merged Bouhans and Feurg to today's double municipality. Since 2008 Bouhans -et- Feurg is a member of the comprehensive 14 villages municipal association Communauté de communes des Quatre Vallées.

Attractions

The village church of Bouhans was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style and has important paintings from the 17th century. From the 19th century, the Lavoir whose roof is supported by numerous columns dating. It once served as a laundry and watering cattle. The Church of Feurg was rebuilt in the 18th century, the Gothic porch was retained. In-room amenities include altars from the 18th century, statues of St. Anne and Mary ( 15th and 16th centuries ). Also in Feurg are the remains of a manor house dating from the 18th century.

Population

With 288 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Bouhans -et- Feurg one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1881 383 persons were still counted ), only relatively small fluctuations were recorded since the early 1960s.

Economy and infrastructure

Bouhans -et- Feurg was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Today, there are some establishments of local small businesses, including a sawmill. In recent decades the village has been transformed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who engage in the larger towns in the vicinity of their work.

The village is situated away from the larger passage axes on a secondary road that leads from Gray to Fontaine - Française. Another road connection with Poyans.
