Braeriach

The Braeriach ( gäl. Braigh Riabhach / Am Braigh Riabhach ) is 1296 m, the third highest mountain in Scotland and the United Kingdom, higher are the Ben Nevis and Ben MacDhui. The summit is the highest point in the western massif of the Cairngorms, separated from the central part with Ben Cairn Gorm Macdui and by the Lairig Ghru pass. The summit is crescent-shaped with several amphitheater- Karen. On the north side of Garbh Coire Mor Kar was in the last one hundred years, only five times completely free of snow: 1933, 1959, 1996, 2003, 2006 The snowfields lying here are the most permanent snowfields in Scotland.. On the summit plateau, about 1 km west of the main summit, the River Dee rises at an altitude of around 1,220 m.

The normal route to the Braeriach starts at the Sugar Bowl Parking on the street in the Cairn Gorm ski area. A trail leads over the mountainside up to Chalamain Gap, a steep-sided notch, and from there about 100 m down to Lairig Ghru. After crossing the pass follows the rise summit via the north ridge of Braeriach, wherein the secondary summit SRON is exceeded na Lairige. The summit is about 9 km from the parking lot.
