Brahmanbaria District

The district Brahmanbaria ( Bengali: ব্রাহ্মণবাড়িয়া জেলা, Brāhmaṇabāṛiẏā Jela ) is an administrative unit in the south-eastern Bangladesh, located within the Division Chittagong. The district capital is the eponymous place Brahmanbaria.

The 1927.11 km ² large district is bordered to the north by the neighboring districts Kishorganj and Habiganj, in the east also in Habiganj and the Indian state of Tripura, in the south to the neighboring district Kumilla and to the west by Narsingdi, Narayanganj, again at Kishorganj and the river Meghna.

The main rivers are the Meghna, Titas, Buri and Howrah.

In 1984 created administrative district is divided into the six so-called Upazilas: Akhaura, Banchharampur, Brahmanbaria Sadar, Casbah, Nabinagar and Nasirnagar. Within this administrative subdivision, there are four self-governing cities ( municipalities ), 98 Union Parishads (village councils) and 1329 villages.

Agricultural main products are rice, jute, wheat, mustard seeds, potatoes, garlic and chili. As the most common fruits are mangos, jackfruit, papayas, coconuts, bananas and limes. The main export products are jute, rice, mustard seeds, vegetables, cotton and leather products.
