Brant Bjork

Brant Bjork ( born March 19, 1973) is an American songwriter, musician, record producer and head of a record label. He was the drummer of the bands Kyuss and Fu Manchu to a style-defining musicians of Stoner Rock, 1999 he started his solo career, which made him well known outside of the stoner rock scene.

Life

As a founding member and songwriter of the stoner rock - founder Kyuss he left in 1993 after the third official album Welcome to Sky Valley the band and produced in the same year, Fu Manchu's debut album, No One Rides for Free. In 1997, he joined Fu Manchu drummer and published with the band until 2001, several albums. Previously, he initiated in 1996 with the ex - Kyuss Josh Homme colleagues the Desert Sessions, from which emerged the Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal.

With the creation of his own record label Duna Records (initially known as El Camino titled) and the publication of the first solo album Jalamanta on Man's Ruin Records, he started his solo career. He played on Jalamanta all instruments ( bass, drums, guitar) it self. He was supported only in the vocals of Mario Lalli ( Fatso Jetson of ), who was also responsible for some guitar tracks.

The following project Ché brought him back for the time being in " gewohntere " Stoner Rockgefilde. So he teamed up with his Kyuss drums successor Alfredo Hernández (including Queens of the Stone Age) and bassist Dave Dinsmore Unida and 2000 published the album Sounds of Liberation. However, this should remain the only sign of life from Ché and Bjork went back to his solo project, with which he, the second album Brant Bjork & the Operators could follow in 2002. Contrary to the title name he again played all instruments himself and was supported only by Mathias Schneeberger on the electric organ. Stylistically, Bjork away even more of the "classic" stoner rock and created a mix of styles with jazz, dub and reggae elements.

The 2003 album Keep Your Cool (2003) was again rocking with influences of Jimi Hendrix, while the Local Angel appeared in 2004 with many acoustic songs is so far the quietest album.

On 1 August 2005, the double album Saved by Magic appeared on Duna Records, said Bjork was doing all the songs with his live band, The Bros ( Brant Bjork & The Bros ) was added.
