Bratovo, Burgas Province

Bratowo ( Bulgarian Братово ) is a village in the municipality and District / Oblast Burgas in southeastern Bulgaria.

Location

Bratowo located in the eastern part of the Upper Thracian lowlands around 2 km west of the community center Burgas, north of Bourgas Lake and 3 km north of Dolno Eserowo. In the vicinity is the oil refinery Lukoil Neftochim and the railway line Sofia - Burgas.

History

The old name of Bratowo is Canarkadash ( Turkish for fraternal soul). Founder of the village was the dealer Najden Prodanow Stoyanov, who after the Balkan wars of 1912/13, with his family from the ostthrakischen Kavaklı at Kırklareli (now in Turkey) took refuge here in 1913 and landed property acquired (see Thracian Bulgarians ). Four years later, in 1917, more refugees were added from the ostthrakischen villages Kavaklı, Terkozlı and Derventa.
