Ravnets, Burgas Province

Rawnez (also Ravnets, Bulgarian Равнец, Bulgarian for Yarrow ) is a village in the municipality of Burgas in Burgas Oblast in southeastern Bulgaria.

Rawnez is the Burgasebene, west of Burgas Lake, about 20 west of the city center of Burgas. The closest places to Bratowo and Trojanowo.

1913 after the outbreak of the Second Balkan War, when the Turkish army reconquered Eastern Thrace, the entire Bulgarian population of Kavaklı fled to Bulgaria. Refugees (see Thracian Bulgarians ) settled from Kavaklı also in and around Burgas, including 23 families in Rawnez.

Military airfield

Between 1953 and 2001, a military airfield of the Bulgarian air strike forces in Rawnez was operated. The Ravnets Air Base ( Bulg Авиобаза Равнец; ICAO: LBBR ) was a secret facility in which the 15th season of the Bulgarian air strike forces was based. Although the base is closed, it is strictly guarded today.
