Marinka, Bulgaria

Marinka ( Bulgarian Маринка ) is a village in the municipality of Burgas in Burgas District / Oblast in southeastern Bulgaria. The village is named after the Saint Marina.

Location

Marinka is located in the eastern part of the Upper Thracian Plain about 15 km south-west of the community center Burgas, near the Bourgas Lake and 2 km south of the village Twardiza. Just south of the village there is the mountain steeds, which is part of the beach Saddle Mountains. Through the village the European Route 87 runs from Burgas to Malko Tarnovo and on to Turkey.

History

In ancient times there was south of the present village of a Roman villa rustica. It is also near the Via pontica was. In the Middle Ages there was a small fortress on the Middle Mountain horses.

In the near Marinka existed a Tschiflik (of Turkish Çiftlik for " cottage" ) called Archijanli ( Bulg Архиянли ) during the reign of the Ottoman Turks. After the liberation of Bulgaria from Turkish rule in 1878 who later became the Bulgarian Prime Minister Stefan Stambolov has bought the 30,000 -acre Tschiflik of emigrating Turks. In the period after the liberation and restoration of independence, settled in the region of Burgas Bulgarian refugees ( Thracian Bulgarians ) from the still under Turkish rule areas of Thrace and Macedonia. The flow of refugees increased after the failed Ilinden Uprising Preobraschenie and the Balkan Wars ( 1912-13 ).

In 1909 the first refugees settled here and founded a settlement in the area Karagözler ( Bulg Карагьозлер ).
